We’re proud to announce the four finalists to PIPA 2011! Congratulations to all Nominated Artists. PIPA 2011, Brazil’s largest independent art prize, is surprising even us with this new edition.

Just as a reminder (check out last year’s post), “Prêmio Investidor Profissional de Arte (PIPA) is a pioneering partnership with MAM-Rio, Rio de Janeiro’s modern art museum. Roughly translating from PIPA’s website, the idea is to stimulate and recognize emerging artists with a relevant cash award and, in line with IP’s global view, an international residence program – all the while stimulating MAM-Rio’s continuous improvement efforts and the city of Rio de Janeiro.”

Brazilian newspapers O Estado de SP (Estadão) and O Globo have written about the announcement (both just in Portuguese, so far).

PIPA 2010, Melinda Gates and Coca-Cola – Oct. 25th, 2010 – We were proud then (Oct. 2010) that PIPA 2010 was going so well, especially given its lack of government/ tax incentives and the small yet extremely dedicated team. We’re even more proud that PIPA 2011 has achieved so many improvements, with an arguably smaller team and even sooner/ faster than last year.
