Transparency, governance and accountability are two of the main issues I am concerned with regarding politics, government and society in general. I have discussed it here in terms of citizen initiatives such as Wikileaks and its offspring, but governments can also try to push it in that direction. We’ve seen a recent push in Brazil, and more recently the “Access Act” is in the news. The US has had the Freedom of Information requests for years and Data.gov is also pretty interesting. This article in the UK’s The Guardian has a few consultant-sponsored ideas, but also points to many interesting sources. Good food for thought for the weekend.
