“Normally, live coverage of events in Brazil is reserved for football matches”… And thus the surreal nature of Brazil’s “Mensalão” judgement, so easily lost on us locals, is well captured by this Financial Times article. I like the fact that the article is very cautious not to sound too optimistic. Just a few days later, a commission of our Congress buried yet another investigation of its peers receiving money from an illegal gambling don in exchange for political and (obviously) economic favors.
We have much to learn, much to do. Can’t rest a single second.
